Luna Lovegood is my favorite character in Harry Potter. Luna is in the Ravenclaw house at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. She is a member of the Dumbledore's Army in Harry’s fifth year at Hogwarts. Luna is a little unusual, for example, she believes that there are things such as crumple-horned-snorkacks. However, one of the things I like about Luna is that she is not afraid when other people think that she is weird. She is perfectly happy being herself.
One of the characters that I admire most about Luna Lovegood is that she is very affectionate and understanding. She does not feel superior to other magical beings such as house-elfs and centaurs. She helped bury Dobby the house elf in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
In Luna’s fourth year at Hogwarts she met Harry. One of the first things that Harry noticed about her is that she is… odd. A lot of people find her to be unusual because of her strange beliefs in things such as gulping plimpies, largely inherited from her father who helped write the magazine “the Quibbler”. Luna has a very close relationship with her father. When the death-eaters kidnapped her, Luna’s father was even willing to exchange Harry for his daughter. Luna also looks somewhat unusual with her dirty blond hair, spectrespecs (a type of magical glasses), and radish-like earrings.
Even though sometimes she does not show it, Luna is also very brave, and she is always ready to fight beside her friends. Luna was also there at the battle at the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic with Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville Longbottom. When Luna met Harry she also met his friends. First Luna is friends with Hermione, although sometimes she feels that Hermione is intelligent but a bit close minded in thinking, because Hermione thinks that some of her and her father’s very unusual beliefs are not real when there is no proof. Nevertheless the two girls had a very close friendship and always comforted each other when they were in hard times.
Next Ginny Weasley’s relationship with Luna was always very friendly even though earlier in their friendship Ginny would still sometimes call her “Loony Lovegood”. Overtime she stopped doing it and once even stopped other people from calling her “Loony”. Ginny and Luna were in the same year at Hogwarts (though in different houses). When Luna first met Ron Weasley he would sometimes tease her but Luna did not mind much, she said “Ron can say very funny things sometimes but can still be a bit rude.” Ron liked Luna a lot and was very amused at her commentary at a Hogwarts Quidditch game. Last but not least, Luna is a good friend of Neville Longbottom. Neville found Luna to be very odd. They met at compartment on the Hogwarts express, where Luna sat reading the magazine The Quibbler upside down with Ginny and Harry.
